Dinari and his brother Kamaia live at Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo. Dinari is celebrated for his unique conservation contribution. Dinari saved Kamaia’s life by donating blood to him during an illness which ended with Kamaia having his spleen removed. Blood transfusions are rare in zoological settings due to lack of donors. But, because Dinari and Kamaia were littermates, Dinari was a perfect match. The surgery was a great success. Dinari and Kamaia are seen happily nuzzling and sunning together. In March 2025, the brothers celebrated their 15th birthday.
