MARA

In 2006, Mara was born at Pittsburgh Zoo.  In 2010, she was transferred to Columbus Zoo, where she became a celebrated ambassador of her endangered species and amazingly raised three litters and raised 9 cubs. On April 11, 2025, Mara was euthanized at eighteen years of age due to mobility issues. Columbus Zoo said, “Mara’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her - and in the future of Amur tiger preservation.”
